Focusing on women and the youth is key to transforming agriculture in Africa and by extensionboost food security. Despite the fact that women and youth make up the largest percentage of ourpopulation, their role in agriculture remains undermined. Both categories are less empoweredand recognized for their current and potential contribution towards the efforts to boost foodsecurity

Traditional food crops in almost every global society played a key role in sustaining the diets andhealth of people. Our ancestors ate and drank to their health based on the food crops utilized intheir days. Most of these food crops had special characteristics such drought resistance, pest anddisease resistance, medicinal and nutritional values among others.
